I strongly support automatic voter registration,as it is something we can readily integrate into our current state systems. Ensuring we have a system to support this allows more Ohioans voices to be heard and represented. ANSWER #2: I support our police. I also believe in accountability and adequate training that ensures our public safety departments can best serve all Ohioans. ANSWER #1: Pandemic lessons learned show we need laws in place that allow emergency provisions to be enacted in crises, such as reasonable extension of the window for mail-in absentee ballots to be received. Actively promoting early and absentee voting options, and expanding in-person early voting sites now to multiple locations in each county would increase access and use of this habit every year, as well as provide additional secured sites for absentee ballot drop-off boxes. ANSWER #2: Effective policing legislation must have input and inclusion of all voices – a diversity of citizens, law enforcement and local and state community, business and faith leaders. I support legislation that provides increased transparency and involvement of an outside agency to investigate police officer shootings and use of force cases involving a death; consistent training standards/content; and accountability processes that protect the public and respect the work of good officers who honorably perform their jobs.
