Ohio LWV Voters Guide 2020

ELECTION 2020 VOTERS GUIDE 2 November 2020 HHHHHHHHHHH Introduction As Ohio’s Chief Elections Officer, I know Ohioans are expecting safe and secure options to cast their ballot. Whether it’s voting in-person on election day, early at the county board of elections, or voting absentee through the mail, Ohio has become a national model for election security. For those of you choosing to vote absentee from the comfort of your own home, be confident that Ohio has both the laws and processes necessary to make absentee voting secure against fraud. These practices include two checkpoints of a voter’s identification and signature, voter list maintenance allowing for more accurate voter rolls, laws against ballot harvesting, and the ability for voters to track their ballot online like a package at VoteOhio.gov. These requirements and processes, as well as strict laws against voter fraud, have made absentee voting secure in Ohio and instances of voter fraud exceedingly rare. But don’t wait! Get your ballot request application in as soon as possible. It’s recommended that ballot request forms are received by your county board no later than October 27th in order for you to get your absentee ballot on time. Or, if you choose to vote early in-person or on election day, know that it will be both safe and accessible. Make sure your voice is heard!
