  • YSHS golf begins

    Practices for the upcoming Yellow Springs High School golf season begin on Monday, Aug. 2, with matches beginning 10 days later. Those interested in being on the team are asked to contact Varsity Golf Coach Mike Reichert to be part of the season’s roster.

  • Twins on top in Major League

    In the Minor League last week, the Indians pushed their record to 8–0 with a pair of wins to keep their spot at the top going into the final week of play. The Indians pounded out 24 hits in their first win of the week, an 18–8 defeat of the Dragons on Wednesday, July 7.

  • Volleyball clinic to start

    The Yellow Springs schools will host a morning girls volleyball clinic July 19–23 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Yellow Springs High School gym. The clinic is for area girls entering the sixth, seventh or eighth grade next fall and living in Yellow Springs or attending Yellow Springs schools.

  • Running champs start camp

    Running may be one of the most natural, intuitive sports there is, but doing it well isn’t as easy as it seems. Two recent Yellow Springs High School graduates, Sam Borchers and Evan Firestone, learned a lot about distance running before going on to win state and national championships in their track and cross country events.

  • ’Dogs welcomed by Wayne Wahoos

    The Yellow Springs Sea Dogs swam at two away meets this past week. On June 29, the Sea Dogs held their own against the Wayne Wahoos. On July 1, the Sea Dogs traveled to the home of the Clinton County Barracudas.

  • YS Youth Baseball

    The Indians continue to lead the 2010 Minor League with an undefeated record of 6–0 after a shortened week of play due to the July 4th holiday. They won their sixth straight game on Monday, June 28, in a 10–6 defeat of the Reds.

  • Basketball camp to start

    The Bulldog basketball program will hold a youth camp for boys and girls, ages 6 and up, July 14–17 at the Bryan Center outdoor courts. Camp brochures with registration information are available at the Yellow Springs school board office, local businesses and at http://www.bulldogbasketball.net .

  • Brickson joins national race walking team

    Last weekend recent Yellow Springs High School graduate Reini Brickson qualified as the sixth and final member of the USA National Team for race walkers.   • Sea Dogs take on Oakwood

    The Yellow Springs Sea Dogs swam against the Oakwood Dolphins at the village’s Gaunt Park pool last Thursday, June 24. This home meet was a tough meet, but the Sea Dogs met the challenge with strong swimming and excellent sportsmanship.

  • Baseball! baseball! at Perry League

    Colin Lindemann is the first child on the diamond. “How old are you, Colin?” I ask. He’s left his glove with his mom until after we do our stretches. “I used to be 4,” he says.
