Edwin
W. Jobes
Edwin W. Jobes of
Yellow Springs died Friday, June 27, in Community Hospital. He was 72.
He was born on Aug.
1, 1930, in Springfield, the son of Edwin W. Sr. and Bertha (Hummell)
Jobes.
He served in the
U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He
retired from the Navy in 1969 after 21 years of service, and then worked
for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1990. He was a member
of the Eagles No. 2641 and also volunteered at coach bingo.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; his wife Maxine (Kinninson) Jobes, after 46 years
of marriage; 11 brothers and sisters; and one grandson, Terry Powell.
He is survived by
his children and their spouses, Lucy and Pete Hutchinson of Germantown,
William E. and Carol Jobes of Riverside; Richard Jobes; Julie and Danny
Powell of North Lewisburg; Brenda and Dave Vesley of Kettering; and Ronnie
Jobes of Springfield; two sisters, Leona Powers of Springfield and Ruth
Kipsinger of Xenia; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held
on Wednesday, July 2, in the Jackson Lytle & Ingling Williams Funeral
Home in Springfield, with interment following in Enon Cemetery.
