OBITUARIES
Margaret Kahoe
Margaret Kahoe of Yellow Springs passed away
Tuesday, April 5, at Friends Care Center. She was 90.
Margaret was born Sept. 6, 1914, and resided in Yellow
Springs on Hyde Road her entire life. She was married to Howard Kahoe,
retired Yellow Springs village manager, for nearly 50 years.
Margaret enjoyed a variety of interests, including
handcrafts, animals (especially her numerous cats, and her dog Blackie),
mah jongh, collecting antiques, attending auctions, gardening and baking
for family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for the family
farm, Wabeak.
Margaret was active in the First Presbyterian Church
of Yellow Springs, the Yellow Springs Library Association, the Shakespeare
Club and Order of the Eastern Star. She served on the board of directors
of the Miami Valley Lung Association for many years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Nettie
Hutchison Welch and L.D. Welch; husband, Howard Kahoe; infant son, Christopher;
sisters, Florence (Don) Loobey, Ruth (Lewis) Chapman and Esther (Edwin)
Keenan; and brothers, Elder (Katherine) Welch, Kenneth (Evie) Welch and
niece, Marilyn Welch Fulton.
Margaret is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Allyn
and Cheryl Kahoe of Medway; daughter Patsy Kahoe of Yellow Springs; nieces,
Ruth Copas of Dayton and Peggy (Dennis) Fowler of Otego, N.Y.; nephew
Don (Nancy) Welch of Springfield; numerous grand- and great-grand-nieces
and nephews; sister-in-law Mary Kahoe of Fairborn; and special friends
Charlotte Baldwin, Helen Hammond and John Grote.
Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church
of Yellow Springs on Saturday, April 9, with burial at Glen Forest Cemetery
following.
The family would like to thank the Friends Care Staff
for their care and comfort of Margaret.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to the Yellow Springs Library Association, 415 Xenia Avenue, the First
Presbyterian Church of Yellow Springs, Friends Care Community, 170 East
Herman Street, the Greene County Animal Shelter or a charity of choice.
Mary Elizabeth Brewer
Mary Elizabeth Brewer passed away Tuesday, April 5,
at the Friends Care Center, Yellow Springs. She was 93.
She was born in Greene County on Sept. 20, 1911, the
daughter of John H. and Ella (Tressler) Brewer. She graduated from Bryan
High School but resided for many years in Cincinnati.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Clara;
brothers, Guy C., Henry Earl, Harley M., George R. and John Lester.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside
services were held on Friday, April 8, at the Glen Forest Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends Care Center,
150 East Herman, Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387.
Wendell Temple
Wendell Temple of Yellow Springs died Tuesday, April
5. He was 81.
Arrangements are pending at the Jackson Lytle Williams
Maley Funeral Home, Yellow Springs.
