Albert ‘Bud’ Burden

Albert L. “Bud” Burden, age 75, of Xenia, passed away Monday, Oct. 11, at Hospice of Dayton. He was born March 14, 1935 in Osborn, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father Ruth and Richard Hoag Sr., formerly of Yellow Springs; his father Albert A. Burden, formerly of Dayton; brothers Richard Hoag Jr. and William Hoag; and sister Helen (MacDonald) Vezza.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ann Burden; children Mark (Valerie) Burden of Xenia; Beverly (John Earnest) Campbell of Jamestown; Deron Burden of Xenia; and Melinda Burden of Jamestown; brothers Douglas Burden of Centerville and Stanley Burden of St. Cloud, Fla.; grandchildren Khara and Rich Smith of Xenia; Kevin Campbell of Springfield; Asia (Darin) Gillett of Denver, Colo.; Dameon Burden of Scott AFB, Ill.; Darian Burden of Xenia; Heather Brooks of Sumter, S.C.; Taylor Burden of Xenia; Isaiah Workman of Xenia; and Miah Workman of Springboro; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
Bud had worked at the Yellow Springs Post Office for 14 years before going to the Ohio State Patrol in 1970. He continued his service there until his retirement after 25 years of service in 1995. He enjoyed cutting wood and was rarely found far from his Stihl chainsaw. He was also a John Deere enthusiast and a NASCAR fan, supporting Ford drivers. Most importantly, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Pastor Kenneth Moore officiating. Interment will be in Clifton Cemetery. Friends may call 5ą8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the funeral home. The family wishes to express its great appreciation for the efforts and help that Hospice of Dayton and all their family and friends provided during Bud’s illness. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in his memory.
