Betty Ryan

Betty Ann Ryan of Yellow Springs died at 1:26 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, in Villa Springfield. She was 93.

Betty was born in Yellow Springs on Oct. 28, 1918, the daughter of Charles and Frances (Kern) Geis. She was an accountant at Vernay Laboratories for 40 years and, prior to that, worked at Antioch College for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the former secretary and treasurer for the Yellow Springs chapter of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.

Betty is survived by her two children, Beth Bumgardner and David (Sheila) Ryan of Springfield; two grandsons, Jeff (Janel) Bumgardner and Steve (Emily) Bumgardner; two great-grandsons, Brady and Carter; and sister, Helen Sill of Circleville, and brother, Carl (Phyllis) Geis of Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 2009. Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, at Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Raphael Church. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery in Yellow Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

    Was this Betty Ann Ryan that lived in Washington DC and had several boys at that time in the 1950s and 60s? I am the daughter that was adopted in 1954.
