Softballers lose opener
The Yellow Springs High School softball team lost the opening game against Cedarville 17–3 on Monday, March 30. Katie Triplett drove two hits early on in the game, both of which were scored by Rachel Trumbull. Katie Nickels then scored the Lady Bulldogs’ third run. New to the mound, Alex Beer pitched four innings and allowed just three hits. She also struck out two and had 10 bases on walks.
Track teams at Tipp City relays
With senior athletes away on their senior trip last week, the limited YSHS boys and girls track teams competed in the Tipp City relays on Saturday, March 28, against 17 teams, all but two of which were Division I and II teams. The Bulldogs were led by Steve Scott, who had the second best toss in the discus: 122.4 feet.
Other standout performances were turned in by Reini Brickson whose high jump of 4’4 scored for the lady Bulldogs. Other scoring performances were turned in by the shot put tandem of Scott, Earnest Johnson and Addison Pettiford, along with the 800-meter relay team of Mario Cosey, Josh Meadows, Tony Parker and Logan Norris-Sayres.
Ironman performances in the distance races were turned in by Gabe Amrhein, Mitchell Brickson, Zach McHugh, Nathaniel Reed and Birch Robinson-Hubbuch. For the girl’s team Paige Evans and Elizabeth Gonder performed admirably.
