McKinney girls win home meet

McKinney Middle School hosted an invitational track meet on Thursday, April 16, and came away victorious on the girls’ side, while the boys team finished fifth out of nine schools.
Leading the Bullpups to their victory was Lois Miller, who established a new McKinney school record in the 1600 with her winning time of 5:44. Miller also won the 800 in 2:40.3. In the field, Angela Allen winged her way to a victorious discus toss of 74’7″. And TT Colquitt overwhelmed the field with a shot put throw of 26′ 8″. Briana Ayers scored 17 points with two third-place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and a fourth-place finish in the 100 high hurdles.
The McKinney girls also won both the 400 and the mile relays and finished second in the 800 relay.
For the boys, eighth grader Roland Newsome won the long jump with a leap of 17’6″ and took second in the high jump. Eli Biggs placed second in the 400.
