Borchers smokes two events at Bucknell University meet

Penn State University sophomore and 2007 Yellow Springs High School alumnus Sam Borchers doubled up and won two races last weekend, April 17–18, at an invitational Track & Field meet at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. Borchers left the competition behind in the 1500 meter run with a 4:05 equivalent mile. His winning time, which qualified him for the IC4A meet, was 3:49.81. Second place was 3:55.84. Borchers then came back in the 800 and bested the runner-up by a second in 1:53.14.

This weekend he will compete at the 114th Penn Relays in the distance medley relay (running the 1200-meter leg) and then coming back at the same event in the 4×100 mile relay.

Also competing at Penn on Saturday will be national 5,000-meter race walk champion Erika Shaver, from the Miami Valley School, and Beavercreek senior John Randall in the 10,000-meter race walk for men.
