Eddie Eckenrode

Longtime village resident Edward Reit Eckenrode III, originally of Harrisburg, Pa., died peacefully at home on Tuesday night. The co-owner, with his wife Samantha, of the downtown store Sam and Eddie’s Open Books, Eddie struggled with cancer over the last several months. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, at the Glen Helen Building. Check the News Web site, ysnews.com, for updates.
