Norman C. Legge

Norman C. Legge died with family attending on May 14 at Friends Care Center. He was 83.
Norman was born June 12, 1926, to Rev. Charles W. and Jean (Meyer) Legge in Stratton, Vt., and was raised in Greenwich, Conn. Norman married Lynnette J. Newland on Nov. 16, 1952.
In 1944, he volunteered for service with the Army Air Force and served four years. He went on to earn a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Virginia Tech, was commissioned in the Air Force Reserves and retired as a major after 22 years of duty with the Reserves and Army National Guard. He retired from civil service from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Norman was a member of the Miami Township volunteer fire department, Clifton Senior Citizens, Springfield Ostomy Society, a member of Prairie Knob UCC Church and former member of Clifton United Presbyterian Church. He was also an avid farmer.
He is survived by son Charles and wife Terri, son Frederick and wife Bette and son John and wife Tamara; by grandchildren Adam, Mathew, Allison, Rebecca, Ethan and Emily; and by great-grandchildren Dylan and Skyler. He is also survived by his brother Ernest of Vermont. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lynn and siblings Jean, Bernice and Lenore.
A memorial service will be held at Clifton Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. on May 29, with a meal to follow at the church. A memorial contribution may be made to the Hospice of the Miami Valley.
