’Dogs welcomed by Wayne Wahoos

The Yellow Springs Sea Dogs swam at two away meets this past week. On June 29, the Sea Dogs held their own against the Wayne Wahoos. On July 1, the Sea Dogs traveled to the home of the Clinton County Barracudas.
The Wahoo meet was filled with two firsts. Both Fatou Reed and Maritza Slattery swam in their very first swim meet to the sound of cheering crowds. The 9–11 year old boys relay team, Ethan Perkins, Isaiah Crawford, William Gregor and Eric Romohr, brought home two sets of blue ribbons for the 100 medley and the 100 free. The 9–11 year old girls relay team, Sara Zendlovitz, Aza Hurwitz, Emma Reed and Nia Stewart, also brought home first place ribbons in the 100 medley relay.
Results of the June 29 meet for the girls events were, for ages 6 and under, Sehla Griffin, second, 25 back and Gabrielle Perkins, third, 25 back. For 8 and under, Eden Spriggs, first, 25 breast, second 25 back; Jude Meekin, third, 25 fly and 25 free and Victoria Osborne, first, 25 free, second, 25 fly. For ages 9–11, Emma Reed, first, 100 medley relay, 25 fly, second, 50 free, 100 IM; Sara Zendlovitz, first, 100 medley relay, third, 25 free; Nia Stewart, first, 100 medley relay, third, 25 back; Lili Peistrup, third 25 breast and Aza Hurwitz, first, 100 medley relay. For 11–13, Charlotte Walkey, third, 100 IM, 50 breast, 50 fly; Emma Romohr, third, 50 back and Amanda Perkins, third, 50 free. For 13–15, Rachel Meyer, first, 50 fly, second, 100 IM, third, 50 back; Rachele Orme, first, 50 free, second, 50 back and Zoey McKinley, second, 50 fly, third, 100 free, 50 breast. For ages 15–19, Olivia Ramage, third, 50 breast and Mariah Nichols, third 50 free.

For 11–13, Jeffery Crawford, third, 50 back, 50 free; Aman Ngqakayi, first, 100 free, 100 IM, 50 breast and Hayden Orme, second, 50 fly, third, 100 IM, 50 breast; Theron Orme, first 50 free, second 50 fly. For ages 13–15, Sam Salazar, third, 50 back, 50 free. 15–18, Mathew Salazar, first, 50 breast, second, 50 free, third, 50 back.
The July 1 meet against the Barracudas was filled with ribbons. For the girls, Amelie Maruyama earned a blue ribbon for the 25 back, Jude Meekin and Victoria Osborne earned five ribbons each and Emma Reed brought home three first place ribbons. For the boys, Aman Ngqakayi won five first place ribbons, adding to an already spectacular season. Theron Orme brought home five ribbons himself and Youssef Reed brought home four.
