YSHS senior honored

Yellow Springs High School senior Erika Chick recently won the prestigious Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award, an honor bestowed upon one public school student in each county across the state of Ohio. To win this award, Erika competed against every public school senior student in Greene County. This high honor was achieved by virtue of Chick’s outstanding academic achievement, personal accomplishments and community service.

Erika, along with the recipient from each county across Ohio, was formally recognized in a ceremony sponsored by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association held in Columbus on Wednesday, April 25.  Said superintendent of schools Mario Basora: “Erika represents what is best about Yellow Springs Schools. We are so proud that she was chosen as the recipient of this esteemed award.”

After graduating from Yellow Springs High School this spring, Chick plans to attend Cornell University.
