McKee group updates examination of cost of living
- Published: June 22, 2012
Like the one completed 10 years ago, the 2012 Yellow Springs Cost of Living study got a reprise this spring using data from the 2010 Census to see how the village has changed demographically and economically over time. The Cost of Living study, completed by the Wright State University Center for Urban Planning and Development and paid for by the James A. McKee Group, looks at data in Yellow Springs pertaining to population, age, race and income, and also the cost of goods and services such as housing, taxes, groceries and electric and other utility rates.
The McKee group gave a presentation on the study last week at the Yellow Springs Senior Center. While presenters were careful to convey data without interpreting it, they hoped to organize a forum where villagers can discuss the findings sometime in the Fall. McKee Group members invite villagers to contact them about participating.
Below is a sampling of some of the data, as represented in PowerPoint by the Center for Urban Planning. The entire study is available at the McKee Group Web site, 45387.org and at the library.
