Joseph Carl Holly, 86, of Yellow Springs, passed away Tuesday, May 14, at Liberty Nursing Center. He was born September 21, 1926, in Yellow Springs, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Magdalene Bittner Holly. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and owned and operated Joe Holly’s Cleaners in Yellow Springs for over 50 years.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou (Charles) Horton, Dublin, Stephanie (Paul) Schunemann, Sylvania, and Cecilia Kimball, Xenia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph E. (Lori) Holly, Bayview, David Holly and Christopher Holly, Xenia; nine grandchildren, Patrick (Janet) Horton, Liz (Marcus) Crabtree, Sara Holly-Deaton, Dr. Victoria Schunemann, Lisa Schunemann, Douglas Schunemann, Andrew Kimball, Tyler Kimball, and Gabrielle Holly; two great-grandchildren, Brandyn Holly and Isaiah Deaton; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Ann) Holly, Fairborn; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ann M. (Wolbert) Holly, on July 4, 2007, and by a sister, Elizabeth Holly.
Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 308 Phillips St. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greene County, P.O. Box 51, Xenia, OH 45385, in his memory.
