Dana Cordell

Dana Michael Cordell of Springfield passed away Thursday, July 11. He was 70.

Dana was born on Aug. 3, 1942 to the late Mona (Cordell) and Quienton Spann in Yellow Springs.

Dana served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after 33-and-a-half years from General Motors. He was a hardworking, generous, caring man who loved fishing and playing horseshoes and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Dana is preceded in death by his sisters, Francis, Charlene and Sharon. He is survived by his wife who he was in love with for 30 years and was married to for 19 years, Denise (Baker) Cordell; by sons Wesley (Jennifer) Matthews, Anthony Cordell, Todd Cordell and Eric Foster; by daughters Tami (Miguel) Battle, Barbara Matthews and Kris (Robert) Young; by 10 grandchildren; by nephew, Eugene “Butch” Jackson and by special friends Hivy Jackson and Fred Taylor, as well as numerous beloved family members and friends.

Visitation was Monday, July 15 at Jackson Lytle and Lewis Celebration Center in Springfield. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting http://www.jacksonlytle.com.
