Rebecca Collett

Rebecca Catharine Miars Collett passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Friends Care Community. She was 91.

Rebecca was born on Jan. 23, 1922, in New Burlington, Ohio, the daughter of C.D. and Hetty Walton Miars. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 65 years, Charles F. Collett, her parents, her brother Walton Miars and her sister Ruth Esther Conklin Curlett.

Rebecca attended school as a child in New Burlington, then Kingman High School and Wilmington College. She worked at the Xenia National Bank during World War II, and later at College Hardware in Spring Valley and Collett Hardware and Propane in Wilmington. She was a lifelong active member of New Burlington Friends Meeting and the United Society of Friends Women. She was devoted to her family and friends and loved spending time with them, always bringing cheer. She enjoyed birds, flowers, music, quilting, her Super-Dominoes group and winters in Venice, Fla.

Rebecca is survived by her children, Bob (Susan) Collett of Millersburg, Ohio, Connie Collett of Yellow Springs, Steve (Karla) Collett of Wilmington, and Nancy Collett (Steve) Dal Pian of Part Charlotte, Fla. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held at New Burlington Friends meeting, with burial in New Burlington Cemetery.
