Three beautifully painted rain barrels from Lincoln, Nebraska, who has been doing a similar project for the past 5 years. They paint multiple rain barrels each year, the Human Relations Commission and the Arts Council are only offering 1 barrel for their project.

Harmony Rain Barrel Project

The Human Relations Commission and Yellow Springs Arts Council are accepting artist applications for the Harmony Rain Barrel Project. Artist who live or work in Yellow Springs are asked to propose an artistic rain barrel conveying the theme of harmony. The deadline to apply is Dec. 27.

To apply, send contact info; descriptions and photos of artist style and experience; reason for artist desire to create the Harmony Rain Barrel; and a rendering and description of artist vision for the project, to hrc@vil.yellowsprings.oh.us with “Rain Barrel Project” in the subject line.

The artist will be selected Jan. 5. The selected artist will receive a rain barrel and $500.

Proceeds from the sale of the rain barrels will assist in funding the 2014 HRC Learning/Sharing Mental Health Series.
