Spring soccer season kicks off soon

Yellow Springs Soccer, Inc.’s spring soccer season kicks off in April at Morgan Fields. Fall coaches will contact their team’s returning players to arrange practice times and game times prior to first games. If a child has not been contacted by Friday, April 3, parents should call the coach or the commissioner for their age group listed below. For children who were not in the YSSI League last fall and would like to join, parents are asked to call the appropriate age group leader as soon as possible. First game schedules are listed below; weekly games continue through Saturday, May 16.
Copper Cup (ages 4 to 6 or preschool–kindergarten) begins April 11 at 10:30 a.m. with “pick up” style small-sided games for approximately an hour. There is no set practice for this age group; adults are encouraged to help.
Bronze Cup (ages 6 to 9 or first–third grade) begins April 11; contact Bob Curley at 767-7070.
Silver Cup (ages 9 to 11 or fourth–fifth grade), begins April 11; contact Stephanie Zinger at 206-4064.
Gold Cup (ages 11 to 14 or sixth–eighth grade), begins April 10; contact Lynn Hardman at 765-2379.
Drivers must keep vehicles off the grass, and spectators are asked to sit on the opposite sideline of their team’s “bench area.” Players should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game start times, ideally wearing shorts, shin guards and cleats. All dogs must be on a leash; players and fans are expected to clean up after themselves.
For more information or to find out how to donate or volunteer, contact one of the commissioners listed above.
