Leonard ‘Alan’ Jordan

Alan is survived by his spouse, Ellen Smith, of Brattleboro; daughter Anya Smith-Jordan, of Washington, D.C.; and his sister and her husband, Robin and Anthony Henry, of Yellow Springs. He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Charlotte Jordan, also of Yellow Springs.

Alan was born on April 4, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a high school and college athlete, who in his later years enjoyed hiking, camping, mountain biking and kayaking. He was a lover of barbeque, scotch, great music and cigars who liked nothing better than hanging out on his deck with family and friends. Alan dedicated almost 30 years to the residents of the Brattleboro Retreat as a mental health worker. He took great pride in caring for those in need.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, June 14, at Hilltop Montessori School in Brattleboro, with a celebration of life immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alan’s name to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for the compassionate care provided this past year, or to Brattleboro Area Hospice.
