Police officer Meister commended in Council
- Published: June 11, 2015
On behalf of Village Council at its meeting Monday, Police Chief David Hale presented Officer David Meister with a commendation for exceptional service in the line of duty. On May 1, Meister was the first responder to a 911 call at a West North College Street address, where an elderly resident had stumbled into a backyard pond, followed by his 60-year-old daughter, who jumped in to help him. When Meister arrived, he went into the pond and got both residents out of the water as the medics arrived.
“Officer Meister went into the pond without concern for himself, and we appreciate his service,” Chief Hale said. “The red ribbon, worn above the name plate of the uniform, signifies outstanding service, such as highly intelligent or unusual law enforcement performance.”
Meister thanked his police department and the Miami Township Fire-Rescue squad. His wife, Zoe Van Eaton-Meister, and children Jane, Sven, Nicky and Kate, were there to congratulate him.
