Sea Dogs prepare for championship meet

At their swim meet Thursday, July 16, the Yellow Springs Aquatic Club lost to Oakwood, 379 to 250.

Sea Dogs Abby Graver, Josie Wise and Andrea Reeder won first, second and third places in the 11–12 age group 100 freestyle race, and Allie Hundley came in first in the 8 and under 25 butterfly, 25 breaststroke, and 25 freestyle. David Walker won first in the 13–14 age group 50 butterfly, Roy Gano came in first in the 6 and under 25 backstroke, William Gregor won in the 13–14 age group 50 backstroke, and Devyn Deal won first in the 9–10 age group 25 breaststroke. Lexi Noble, Annlyn Foster and Natalie Galarza came in first, second and third in the 11–12 50 freestyle.

Overall this season, the Sea Dogs captured two wins and sustained five losses, and the team’s 11–12 medley and freestyle relay teams have both gone undefeated.

The championship meet takes place on Saturday, July 25, at Wilmington College. The 10 and under group starts at 9 a.m., and the 11 and up group competes in the afternoon. Altogether, five teams are competing. Yellow Springs placed third in the tournament last year.
