Celebrate 25 years of YS bike path

Next month, the Little Miami Scenic Trail opening from Xenia to Yellow Springs will celebrate its 25th birthday. A small celebration will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., outside the YS Chamber of Commerce offices, located in the Train Station on the bike path.

The scenic bike trail got its start when Xenia and Yellow Springs bought land alongside the defunct Little Miami Railroad in the 1970s and 1980s. The land became part of the Ohio State Parks, and was eventually developed into part of the Little Miami Scenic Trail in 1991.

Founding Governor Bob Taft and Eric Oberg, director of trail development for Rails to Trails, will speak at the celebration, along with Dan Young and others. History and trail information will be on display. The event is free and open to the public.
