John Thomas Russell, DDS

John Thomas Russell, DDS, of Kettering, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016 at the Hospice of Dayton. He was 79.
Tom was a practicing dentist for 55 years and enjoyed his practice in Yellow Springs for 40 years; he was a major in the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War and a member of Temple Israel. He was deeply loved by his family, friends and patients.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Charles and Joyce Russell and brother, Samuel Russell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, B’Sheva Rassin Russell; daughters Lisa Russell, Laura Russell, Linda Bankston; three granddaughters; B’Sheva’s sons, Jolyon Simon Torrance, Gideon Richman Torrance; his sister, Ann Potter; sister-in-law Judith Russell and her family; close friends the Stanley Stein family, of Columbus; and many other relatives and friends.
Private funeral services were held at Riverview Cemetery, with Rabbi Karen Bodney-Halasz officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cancer organization of your choice in Tom’s memory. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Marker and Heller Funeral Homes, North Main Street Chapel.
