Dorothy Mae Williams

Dorothy Mae Williams, of Yellow Springs, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2017. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Harley McKnight and Nancy (Robinson) Kinney. Dorothy worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as Head Secretary at AFIT, where she retired after many years of loyal service. She was an avid bird watcher and reader and enjoyed crocheting, traveling and British dramas and comedies. 

For the past two years, she had the opportunity to travel to 10 different cities in Italy, Spain and France. Dorothy was very proud to have attended High Mass and receive Holy Communion at St. Peter’s Cathedral in The Vatican. 

She loved most of all spending time with her family and took great pride in their many accomplishments. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who loved her. 

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Stewart Williams; daughter, Dorothy Williams, Jr.; and sisters Yvonne, Harlene, Rosemary and Lillian.

Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory, children, Jacinta Williams, Mijanou Lewis, Tosca Stuckey, Maria Cheatom, Teresa Dean, Nacaro Williams, Dmitri Williams, Tomaz Williams, and Djakata Strother; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 308 Phillips St., Yellow Springs, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held for one hour prior (1:30–2:30 p.m.). In care of Newcomer Funeral Home — Beavercreek Chapel.
