John William Laurens

John William Laurens, 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday Nov. 11, 2017, at his Jamestown, Ohio, residence. He was born Aug. 30, 1952, in Waynesville, Ohio, to Marvin and Frances (née Weller) Laurens.
John was a retired machinist who co-owned LaurcoTool & Mfg, Inc. with his brother Mark Laurens for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Ohio Gun Collectors Association, Greene County Fish and Game and a lifetime member of the NRA.
John is survived by his wife, Sherry (née Stump) Laurens; daughters April (Chad) Smith and Gwen Laurens, of Washington Court House; step-daughter Amanda (William) Saylor, of Sabina; grandchildren Kaitlynn and Britney Smith and Ava Saylor; great-grandchild, Liam Leisure; brother Mark (Kathryn) Laurens; nieces Tiffany (Mathias) Laurens-Peters, of Charleston, W.Va., and Jacquelyn, Morgan and Gina Laurens, of Yellow Springs; as well as many friends who greatly loved and admired him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Frances Laurens, and his brother, David C. Laurens.
Funeral services will be held Thursday Nov. 16, at 2 p.m., at Powers-Kell Funeral Home in Jamestown, Ohio, where friends may call at noon until the time of the service.
