Bugs life: EnviroFlight’s open house
- Published: June 27, 2019
EnviroFlight CEO Liz Koutsos spoke to local residents and area officials at a tour of the company’s facility in Yellow Springs last Tuesday. Organized by villager Lisa Abel, convener of the Yellow Springs Community Development Corporation, the event was designed to showcase the company and encourage it to stay in Yellow Springs, where it was founded in 2009.
EnviroFlight’s lease at its current Millworks location expires at the end of 2021. The alternative agriculture business, which makes animal feed from the larvae of black soldier flies, has moved its production facility to Maysville, Ky., and is exploring several sites in different states for its research and development facility, including the CBE at the western edge of Yellow Springs. About 40 local residents attended the event, which ended in a gathering at the nearby YS Brewery.
