Volunteers needed for annual Strawberry Cutting Bee
- Published: June 5, 2019
The annual Strawberry Cutting Bee, where volunteers help to cut berries for the First Presbyterian Church’s Strawberry Fest fundraiser, will be held Friday, June 7, beginning at 9 a.m. at the church.
Volunteers will cut 30 boxes of berries, and will be treated to lunch after the work is finished. Homemade cakes and short cakes are also needed for the festival. Community service credit for youth is offered. Volunteers are asked to call 767-7751 to sign up.
The Strawberry Fest will follow that evening, 6–9 p.m., outside the church. Strawberries, homemade cakes and Young’s ice cream will be available for sale, and all are welcome to come out and enjoy sweet treats, accompanied by the YS Community Band, under the direction of James Johnston, which will play beginning at 7 p.m.
The Strawberry Fest will continue the next morning, June 8 — the day of spring Street Fair — from 11 a.m. until all the strawberries are gone.
