Anna “Nancy” Semmel, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 18, 2019.

She was the deeply loved matriarch of the Semmel family. She is survived by her daughter, Eliza Semmel Bush, and husband John Bush, of Yellow Springs; and grandchildren, (formerly of Yellow Springs), Phoebe Bush and husband Jorge Rios, of Mexico City, Mexico, and Amanda Bush, of Austin, Texas. In Cincinnati, she is survived by sons John Semmel III and her primary caretaker, David Semmel. In Dyersburg, Tennessee, she is survived by son Robert Semmel and his wife Paige Semmel, and their children, Neil, Grant, Reed and Carrie.

She was a world traveler, an ace Scrabble player, a dog lover and, in her younger days, the head nurse of the neurology floor of St. Luke’s hospital, now Columbia-Presbyterian, in NYC, but mostly, she doted on her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Semmel, Jr.; her parents, Elizabeth Davis Ambler and Everett Ambler; and her stepfather, Walter Soltau, all from Pennsylvania.

A family gathering to celebrate her life will be held in Wyoming, Ohio.
