Yellow Springs High School ninth-grader Cheyan Sundell-Turner — the first YSHS female runner to compete in Division III Regionals since 2012 — finished 20th (20:40) on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Troy Memorial Stadium.
Sundell-Turner was four spots from qualifying for the state meet. She was also the second-fastest ninth grader in the field of 88 runners.
Next year will be a promising year for the league-champion YSHS girls cross-country team with the return of three letter winners, Sundell-Turner, Josie DeWine and Avery Reeder.
