In memory of native villager and longtime Yellow Springs News reporter Lauren Heaton, the News has established a fund in conjunction with the Yellow Springs Community Foundation for an annual scholarship, to be awarded annually in her name to a qualifying Yellow Springs High School senior pursuing studies in journalism. Heaton, who died in 2019 at the age of 44, worked at the local paper for 15 years as a reporter, associate editor, columnist and photographer.
