Re: Ordinance 2020-07, which received a second reading and passage into law on June 15, 2020:

This ordinance cites the current COVID-19 emergency as creating a necessity to assure access to continued housing for village renters.  The ordinance affirms the rights of Village renters to the following:

• Tenant’s right to pay to stay prior to the filing of an eviction action for non- payment of rent (Complaint for Forcible Entry and Detainer)

• Tenant’s right to pay to stay prior to an eviction judgment for non-payment of rent (Entry of Restitution)

• Tenant’s right to pay to stay prior to the execution of the eviction judgment for non-payment of rent (Writ of Restitution)

Ordinance 2020-07 is deemed to be in effect from July 15, 2020 until the Governor declares the State of Emergency no longer exists: at such time the Ordinance shall be repealed.

The full text of this ordinance can be found on the Village website and in the office of the Clerk of Council.
