Venue en vogue

On Saturday, Sept. 26, Rose & Sal Vintage Shop owners  Susan Burgos and Mike Bell hosted a music and vintage fashion showcase in the store’s back area and lot, which has become a popular performance and community gathering space in downtown Yellow Springs.

The show featured local models wearing vintage clothing available in the store accompanied by a jazz quartet playing the standards. Live music followed, with sets by Jojomber (Joseph Minde-Berman), area rappers Canvisluv and Kid_Fi3nd and modern jazz septet Crabs Without Legs, headed by Carter Griffin. Among the models were, from left, Sayre Hudson, Sumayah Chappelle and Kai-Marie Kern.

The event was also the unveiling of a new mural by village artist Anna Burke.

This summer, famed harmonica phenomenon Frédéric Yonnet was inspired by the event space Burgos and Bell had created, which led to Yonnet performing there with a host of guest artists for almost a month.

The space is set up both inside and out to accommodate a live, socially distanced, mask-wearing audience of about 48 people.
