Susan Jane Johnson, of Yellow Springs, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020. She was 91.

Susan was born on Oct. 30, 1929, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Nelson and Dorothy (Beal) Schradin, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind her two sons, Dr. John William (Deborah) Johnson and James Mark (Gary Wireman) Johnson; her sister, Mary; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Miami University in home economics, and then taught that subject at Miamisburg High School. While working in Miamisburg, she met her husband, Carl Johnson. They moved to Ada, Ohio, where she worked as a teacher to help put Carl through Ohio Northern University’s pharmacy program. She and Carl ran the pharmacy in Yellow Springs for many years before retiring and traveling the world together. Susan was an avid bridge player and loved tending to her garden where she grew her beautiful pansies.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at Glen Forest Cemetery at 11 a.m., with Pastor Doug Forsythe officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to the Glen Helen Association in Susan’s honor.
