BREAKING: Laundromat gas leak closes downtown roads, businesses

UPDATE Aug. 26, 1:30 p.m.: According to Village Manager Josúe Salmerón, crews have identified the source of the gas leak at the laundromat. The surrounding roads have been reopened to traffic.

Shortly before noon on Friday, Aug. 26, a gas leak began emanating from the Highlander Laundromat at the corner of Dayton and Walnut streets.

Along with crews from Miami Township Fire-Rescue and the Cedarville fire department, CenterPoint Energy has arrived on the scene to fix the leak.

In the meantime, the intersection at Dayton and Walnut streets is closed to traffic. Businesses along the block have been closed.

Crews were unable to provide a timeline for stopping the leak. The News will continue to provide updates as they become available.
