Arthur E. “Art” Morgan

Arthur E. “Art” Morgan, 91, of Monticello, Indiana, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 24, 1932, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Arthur “Ernest” and Elizabeth Lucy (Morey) Morgan. On April 6, 1952, he married the former Sherry Bunnell at her family home in Monticello. She survives.
Art was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served as a medic in a MASH unit during the Korean war. He then went to work for the Journal and Courier and later as sales manager at Antioch Publishing Company, from which he retired. Art had served as president of the Lafayette Typographical Union #64. He was a member of the Friends of the Library and served on the library board of trustees. He was a member of, and taught Sunday school at Monticello United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He enjoyed printing, reading, caning chairs, furniture refinishing, model building, traveling and seeing new places and meeting new people.
Surviving along with his wife, Sherry, of Monticello, are two daughters, Kathy (husband Terry) Newby, of Kokomo, Indiana, and Candee (husband Rick) Haskins of Los Alamos, New Mexico; a brother, Lee (Vicki) Morgan of Minnesota; grandchildren Erica (Wayne) Smith and Sherry (Shannon) Cardwell; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Morgan; two sisters, Jenifer and Benetta Morgan; and a grandson, Michael Haskins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to Monticello United Methodist Church.
