Phayla Gent

Phayla Mae “La La” Gent, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter and friend, has passed away too soon at the young age of 21.
Jesse and Sarah welcomed their beautiful baby girl on Nov. 1, 2002, in Clovis, New Mexico. Phayla was the true definition of love and kindness, never forgetting a birthday or special occasion. She always wanted to make you smile, and never stopped seeing the good in people. She was all heart and devoted to her family and friends. Yellow Springs was the perfect community for Phayla, as she loved nature and animals. The village welcomed her, and she never failed to give a friendly wave or smile to those around her.
Phayla’s passing is being felt deeply, and she will be profoundly missed. In addition to her parents, Sarah and Brian Kirst and Jesse and Nichada Gent, Phayla leaves behind her two brothers, Justin Gent and Damyen Kirst; and grandparents: Barbara and Robert Woods, David and Cynthia Lane, Gary and Judy Kirst, Gene Gent Sr. and Jayne Camic, Laurie and Barry Swederofsky and Norman Gent. She is also survived by aunts and uncles: Gene and Christina Gent Jr., Briana Gent, Michael and Charon Lane, Tara and Samuel Denison, Karen Marie Lane, Rebecka Woods, William Spencer Woods, Stephen Woods, Tammy Woods, Christopher and Megan Woods, Nathan Woods, and Adam and Michelle Woods; as well as numerous beloved cousins, including Alexis Denison, with whom she shared a special bond. The list of friends, caregivers, roommates and extended family members is much too long to include, but please know each held a special place in Phayla’s heart.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, from 1–3 p.m., at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home, Yellow Springs, with a celebration of her life beginning at 3 p.m., Pastor Kevin Moehn officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Phayla’s honor to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) or a wildlife foundation of one’s choice. Condolences will be forwarded to the family by visiting http://www.jacksonlytle.com
