Exciting baseball season nears end

Action continues as Yellow Springs Youth Baseball nears the end of another exciting season. On Monday, July 8, in the Minors Division, the Rain Brothers Twins fell short to the Trail Tavern Dodgers, with a score of 23–12. For the Dodgers, Paxton Stroble, Reese Tobias, August Hyland, Max Berlo and Mateo Valdez-Malishenko had four hits each, with August Hyland accounting for an impressive eight RBIs. Theo Schmidt, Milo Meier, and Harlan Westhoff each had three hits for the Twins. The Dodgers dominated throughout the game, putting up seven runs in the second inning and six in the third.

Also Monday, July 8, the Sunrise Cafe Dodgers, of the Intermediate Division, beat the Bentino’s Reds with a score of 9–3. For the Dodgers, Joseph Schubel had a two-RBI home run. Oak Lyons and Luke Miller had two hits each, and Lyons also had four strikeouts while pitching. For the Reds, Bey Warvel and Eli Mahoney each had strikeouts while pitching, and Mahoney and Mady Truitt accounted for two hits each. The Dodgers scored four in the first inning and five in the third, closing out the game strong.

Thursday, July 11, in the Intermediate Division, the Bentino’s Reds took a decisive 12–4 victory over the Sunrise Cafe Dodgers. Warvel pitched well for the Reds, with two strikeouts. Otoño Roeth had four hits for the Reds, and Mahoney, as well as Lucas Hubertz, each had three of their own. For the Dodgers, Miller and Lyons both pitched well with three strikeouts each. Miller also had two hits for the Dodgers. The game was close until, in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Reds scored nine runs, securing the victory.

The Peach’s Grill Padres hold a narrow half game lead in the stretch run of the Majors Division. On Monday July 8, the Truitt Fitness Reds and the Padres tied their game 13–13. Aaron White had a two-run home run in the third inning for the Padres. Kai Kingsley also played well for the Padres, pitching for three strikeouts, and accounting for four RBIs with two hits. Greg Bailey had two hits for the Padres as well. For the Reds, David Torres pitched well with seven strikeouts. Sully Tarvin and Elijah Stollings also had good games for the Reds, with three and two hits, respectively. The game went back and forth throughout four innings, but ended in a tie.
