Rosann Miller-Wethington

Rosann Miller-Wethington passed away peacefully at the age of 74, on Oct. 22, 2025, in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Born on Dec. 2, 1950, in Fillmore, Utah, Rosann was a fierce, stubborn, and deeply committed daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, veteran and activist. She lived a life of conviction, advocacy and adventure.

An intellectually curious woman, Rosann put herself through college as a single parent, juggling work as a construction foreman and school. She acquired a B.A. in accounting and information systems engineering from Boise State University. Embracing her adventurous spirit, she earned a private pilot’s license for fun before deciding to serve her country as a proud member of the U.S. Air Force to provide security for her three children. After officer training, she was based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, achieving the rank of captain and serving as a systems analyst and an acquisition project officer in the Aero Systems Division. It was there she met and fell in love with Clyde Wethington, the love of her life. Clyde and Rosann blended their families from separate marriages, creating a shared home in Yellow Springs, Ohio. They were married from 1983 until his passing in 2004.

Rosann was a true pioneer for equal rights. She served as president of Positive Equality for the Disabled (PED), successfully fighting for and winning the right for more children with disabilities to receive their education through the public school system, and coordinating the development of a vocational/residential services network to provide employment and residences for multi-handicapped adults.

Rosann channeled her technical background into entrepreneurship, launching Miller-Wethington Inc., a contract manufacturing firm specializing in the manufacture of electronic components, founded on the principle of combining profitability with advocacy by maintaining an integrated work force of people with and without developmental disabilities.

Rosann was a dedicated force in the community, serving as the second executive director of Women’s Economic Assistance Ventures (WEAV), a mentoring program for women entrepreneurs and small business owners, founded by Phyllis Cannon and Jean Hudson. Her passion for the program led her to travel to the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Milan to study micro-loans as part of her work with WEAV. From her work with WEAV, the WEB Center was born. WEB, which stood for Women’s Enterprise Builders, was a cooperative association of female-owned businesses in Yellow Springs. The Web Center served as an incubator for women entrepreneurs. It included retail spaces and educational offerings on making business plans and finding funding.

Rosann and Clyde retired, spending years traveling the country in an RV before finally making a new home in the beautiful community of Jemez Springs, New Mexico. In Jemez, Rosann embraced local life, managing the American Legion and performing many duties, including one of her favorite jobs: bartending with Clyde. She also continued her dedication to public service as a volunteer firefighter. She was known for her strong opinions, vibrant personality, and hobbies that included woodworking, bird watching, reading voraciously, traveling, and along the way, making lifelong friends.

Rosann is survived by her loving mother, Sharon Chrz; her son Shane Johnson; her daughter, Selanie (Eli Hurwitz); and beloved granddaughters, Tyler Hurwitz and Aza Hurwitz. She is also survived by her brother Mark (Terry Rawlinson). She is survived as well by Clyde’s children, whom she embraced as family: Rachel (Rob Zwelling), Kent, and Shelby (Simon Abusini).

Rosann was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wethington; her son Steven Johnson; her brothers Thad Rawlinson and Gary Rawlinson; and her stepfather, Jim Chrz.

Rosann Miller-Wethington will be remembered for her unwavering conviction, her tireless fight for justice, and the joyful, adventurous way she lived every day. Though oceans separate us, we find the currents that connect us. So long Rosann, thank you for all the life you left in your wake. You are loved and remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosann’s honor to: The Glen Helen Raptor Center, glenhelen.org/give/ or The Hummingbird Conservation Network, savehummingbirds.org/donate.html.
