Fernandes to retire from Antioch College

Antioch College President Jane Fernandes will retire after five years at the school’s helm, according to a press release issued by Antioch Friday, Aug. 21. Natalie Kubat, the college’s executive director of advancement, has been named acting interim president and will take over the role Sept. 10.

Fernandes has served as president since 2021. In a statement included in the release, she said she has felt “extraordinarily privileged” to lead the college, citing her “enormous admiration for Antioch College and, especially, for the people who give this College its strength—our students, faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, friends, and the many others who believe deeply in its purpose.”

“Antioch has endured and flourished because generations of people have cared for it, challenged it, and believed in what it can become,” Fernandes said. “I share that belief, and I look toward Antioch’s future with great confidence and affection.”

Kubat has served as Antioch’s executive director of advancement since 2023. She will lead the college on an interim basis while the Board of Trustees searches for its next president, according to the release.
