  • ‘The Genius of Marian’ to screen for free at Little Art

    "The Genius of Marian," which follows Pam White and her family as they live with her diagnosis of Alzheimer's, will screen at the Little Art on Sunday, Sept. 30.

    As part of its year-long effort to increase community awareness about dementia, the Dementia Friendly Yellow Springs Project will host a free showing of the award-winning documentary, “The Genius of Marian,” on Sunday, Sept. 30, 7 p.m., at the Little Art Theatre.

    Friends Care Community is currently implementing a new program to aid residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia — by helping them express themselves through art.

  • Community Read to focus on understanding dementia

    Community members are invited to read "Memory's Last Breath: Field Notes on My Dementia" for this year's Community Read.

    The Yellow Springs Community Library is partnering with the Yellow Springs Senior Center’s Dementia Friendly Yellow Springs, or DFYS, Project to host the first ever Yellow Springs-wide Community Read.  The selected book will be Gerda Saunders’ “Memory’s Last Breath: Field Notes on My Dementia.
