Recreational youth basketball to start
- Published: September 9, 2009
Recreational youth basketball for girls and boys takes place Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Bryan Community Center gym. Parents and guardians must complete a registration form at their child’s first attendance. Older players (grades five and six) should come ready to play from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and younger players (grades three and four) will follow from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Players should use the main entry (near the Village dispatch desk) and change into court shoes to keep the court clean, dry and safe for play.
The league’s focus is on learning basic basketball skills and sportsmanship, and fun. There will be 90 minutes of play each Saturday through mid-March, with older-aged players beginning at 9 a.m. and younger ages at 10:30 a.m. High school players are encouraged to help as assistant coaches and may earn community service learning credit. The league is free and open to all boys and girls in the greater community. For more information, or to help coach, call Branson Pyles at 324-0094 or e-mail him at bransonp@glasscity.net.
