Antioch McGregor dean to give keynote

Iris Weisman, executive dean at Antioch University McGregor, will present the keynote address for Edison Community College’s 35th annual commencement on Friday, May 14.
As a university professor, Weisman established and directed the country’s only masters in community college management for six years. She is responsible for the bachelors degree completion program at Antioch McGregor, which helps enable students with associate degrees to apply all credits toward the bachelors.
A community college graduate herself, Weisman received an associates degree in general studies from Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz., which was a personal stepping stone a year later to a bachelors in business administration at the University of Phoenix. A decade later, Weisman continued her education, earning a masters in community college and adult education from Antioch University. In 1997, she attained an Ed.D. in higher education administration from North Carolina State University.
“I never appreciated the importance of community colleges to the fabric of our society
before my experience at Pima,” said Weisman. “It is a testament to the American dream.”
The commencement ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center on the college’s main campus in Piqua.
