Village dog owners need to register their dog by January 31.

Tag those dogs for the new year

Greene County Auditor Luwanna Delaney wants villagers to know that the deadline is nearing for licensing their pooch. Any dog three months or older must be licensed by Jan. 31, 2011, in order to avoid a penalty of $15, along with public humiliation.

To register, licenses can be purchased at the Auditor’s office at 69 Greene Street, Xenia, between 7:30 and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tags may also be purchased in the mail by writing down on a slip of paper (if the dog does not write, the owner may complete this step) vital dog information, including age, sex, color and breed, the owner’s name, address and telephone number, along with a check for $15 made out to the Greene Councy Auditor. The information may be sent to the auditor at 69 Greene Street, Xenia, OH, 45385.

Necessary information may also be obtained online at http://www.co.greene.oh.us. All applications must be received by midnight, Jan. 31, 2011, or your dog will be officially a canine criminal.
