SPORTS SUNDAY — Bulldogs fall in tournaments

For Yellow Springs High School athletes, deep runs into post-season tournaments ended on Saturday. The YSHS boys soccer team lost in the district finals while cross country runner Lois Miller failed to qualify for the state finals.

Miller got out to a slow start at the cross country regional tournament in Troy, and couldn’t bridge the gap between herself and the tough competitors. She ran her first mile in 6:15 and finished 20:47.22, in 27th place. The top 16 runners advance to the state finals in Columbus. Last year, as a sophomore, Miller qualified for the state meet.

The boys soccer team faced Metro Buckeye Conference Champion Dayton Christian in the district finals and fell 8–0. The Bulldogs ended their season 10–5–3.
