Piece sign: Mills Lawn School mosaic project in progress

Wendy Shelton’s fourth- and fifth-grade students gathered outside late Thursday morning to begin work on the new Mills Lawn School front lawn sign. The mosaic project is being led by artist-in-residence Johanna Smith and art teacher Amy Minehart.
Because of limited space around the sign, students took turns cementing their constructions and designs. Those not currently working on the sign whiled away the time drawing wild patterns on the front walk leading to the school entrance.
