Constance (Connie) Walker, born Jan. 28, 1953, formerly of Yellow Springs and Wilberforce, Ohio, passed away on March 14 in Knoxville, Tenn.
Connie’s parents Bernice Harris Walker and Tommy Walker preceded her in death, as did her grandparents, David Leon Harris and Betsy Harris of Yellow Springs and Elwood and Thelma Walker of Richmond, Ind. After Connie’s mother’s death at a young age, Beatrice Harris Dixon raised Connie and her sister — first in Yellow Springs and then in Wilberforce.
Connie is survived by her three daughters, Shawn Hale, Sherrie Hodge and Sherria Hale, and grandchildren Courtney, Ariel, Samarah, John, Darius, Justin, Hailee and Eric of Knoxville, Tenn. She is also survived by her loving sister, Cynthia Walker, of Middletown, Ohio, by nieces Theresa Jones of Middletown and Cynthia Ann Wilson of Knoxville and John Marvin Hale, her ex-husband and friend, of Columbus. There are numerous cousins — Perrys, Bennings, Cobbs — and others in the Yellow Springs area who will greatly miss her.
Connie graduated from Xenia High School and then attended Central State University. She spent her career in the nursing field, working at nursing establishments in Ohio and Tennessee.
Connie always had this delightful giggle that made one smile. She was always fun, down-to-earth and loved her family very much, especially her daughters and grandchildren.
A memorial was held in Knoxville, Tenn. on March 18. Condolences may be sent in care of Shawn Hale, 8224 Fallen Rock Drive, Knoxville, Tenn. 37923.
