Chick to swim at state meet

YSHS freshman swimmer Olivia Chick qualified in two events for next weekend’s Ohio Division II High School Swimming and Diving Championships.
At districts, Chick finished in second place in the 100-yard freesytle (51.25 seconds) and posted a time of 1:52.14 in the 200-yard freestyle to place third to qualify for the state meet in both events. She’ll be seeded fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle at the state meet, to be held in Canton .
Chick had earlier qualified for the district tournament with a 52.98 second 100-yard freestyle swim and a finish of 1:55.74 in the 200-yard freestyle at sectionals.
Chick’s sister, Erika, was a record-breaking YSHS swimmer who made four straight appearances at the state tournament. She graduated in 2012.
YSHS sophomore Aman Ngqakayi also swam at districts but fell short of qualifying for state. He grabbed third place in two events at sectionals.
