Future farmers faring well
- Published: April 10, 2014
Ohio’s newest chapter of the Future Farmers of America Organization was born at YSHS this school year. Out of the 50 members, eight compete in poultry and dairy competitions, led by sustainable agriculture and horticultural science teacher Brad Lokai and his dad, Larry Lokai. The team competed in the state finals at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus on March 29. The dairy team placed third there, and will go on to compete in the World Dairy Expo in September. The poultry team came in a narrow second behind the first place team, and will go on to compete in another round of finals on April 30. If they win there, they’ll advance to the national competition in October. Pictured in back are dairy team members Caylen Hall, Landon Rhoads and Tristan Campbell, with Coach Brad Lokai.
